Eufillin injections instructions for use

By blocking phosphodiesterase, it reduces the concentration of Ca ions. Low calcium weakens the contractility of smooth muscles. All this is manifested by the relaxation of muscles: bronchi, blood vessels; relieves bronchospasm, improves the work of the respiratory muscles. The filling with blood oxygen increases, the frequency of apnea attacks decreases, the center of respiration is stimulated.

Acting on receptors of blood vessels, reduces their tone, contributing to expansion. Increases blood flow in the kidneys, which speeds up the excretion of urine, and therefore diuresis. Improves blood flow in the heart arteries, increasing the frequency and strength of heart contractions.

Acting on the cells of the immune system (mast cells) reduces the release of substances that cause inflammation, thereby reducing allergic manifestations.

Eufillin is manufactured and sold in powders, tablets or ampoule solutions. Powder in bags is extremely rare.

In the form of tablets: 1 tablet contains 0,15 g of substance. There are usually 10 tablets in a blister, and 3 blisters in a pack.

Another form is a solution in ampoules of 12% in 2 ml. Such a dose is universal for both subcutaneous and intravenous and intramuscular injections. Ampoules from 2,4% to 10 ml are used purely when injected intravenously.

Medication During Pregnancy

The instructions for use stipulate that its use at this time can threaten the health of the child. In the blood of a newborn, doctors often reveal a high concentration of caffeine and aminophylline.

If the mother undergoes an injection with this drug, but the doctors observe the children after birth to exclude xanthine intoxication. When taking aminophylline, doctors evaluate the risks and possible consequences. The medicine is prescribed for extreme vital signs.

Indications during gestation:

  • Swelling of the tissues.
  • Placental insufficiency.
  • Gestosis.
  • Threat of miscarriage or premature birth.

Pregnancy in the annotation is prescribed as a contraindication, so there is no clear treatment regimen. The doctor prescribes the dosage and schedule of admission, based on the diagnosis of the woman, her state of health. In pregnant women, during the course of treatment, a strong heartbeat may begin, weakness is observed.

This procedure is performed for people of any age to relax muscles and reduce intracranial pressure. It is used in complex therapy for diseases of the joints. Electrophoresis is used to improve blood supply in certain areas (neck, lower back). It acts pointwise, without exerting a systemic effect. Therefore, the procedure is applied even to infants and is well tolerated by all groups of patients.

For electrophoresis, a piece of gauze is wetted in a medicine (at a concentration of 2%), electrodes are applied to the desired area. During the procedure, the patient feels warmth or tingling sensation. The course of treatment is 4 sessions of 10-10 minutes. The procedure is done every other day, then you need a break.

The risky effect on the mucous membranes is one of the main reasons why the drug should be taken under the supervision of a doctor and after a full examination of the patient. During pregnancy, Eufillin is allowed for use, provided that its effectiveness is comparable to the risk of harming the fetus (provoking defects in its growth and development).

Signs of an overdose

About the wrong treatment with an overdose of the use of the medication itself may indicate:

  • lack of appetite;
  • vomiting with blood;
  • constant feeling of nausea;
  • tachycardia;
  • hyperemia (redness) of the face;
  • manifesting photophobia;
  • convulsions;
  • tremor of extremities;
  • excessive decrease in blood pressure;
  • necrosis (partial death) of skeletal muscles.

If one or more symptoms of an overdose are found, it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor, as well as stop taking the drug, conduct gastric lavage with activated charcoal. It is important to note that an overdose of the drug in children can lead to the manifestation of sharp epileptoid seizures. When seizures occur, any barbiturates are not allowed.

Indications for treatment

Eufillin is recommended if the patient has chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, with asthma, with bronchitis, with apnea. It is used to reduce high intracranial pressure, to eliminate asthma attacks, with impaired blood circulation of the brain, which develops with strokes and its brain edema.

Eufillin injections are prescribed if the patient develops heart failure in acute or chronic form. Such injections reduce pressure in the vessels of the lungs, relieve edema in diseases of the kidneys. The medicine helps with neuralgia (like Milgamma and its substitutes). It is used in gynecology for the risk of premature birth or with the threat of miscarriage. It relaxes the smooth muscles of the uterus and relieves cramping.

Eufillin has a synthetic nature and a number of contraindications, in which it should not be used:

  • It is not recommended to give injections with eufillin for heart attacks, arrhythmias, tachycardia.
  • Do not put them in bouts of epilepsy, gastrointestinal ulcer (acute phase), with gastritis.
  • Injection should not be treated if the patient has severe liver or kidney disease, there is a risk of hemorrhage in the retina.
  • It is forbidden to take it with aminophylline intolerance.

Doctors recommend using it with caution to treat children under 14 years of age, elderly patients. The risk group also includes nursing mothers, pregnant women, people suffering from atherosclerosis. Such treatment is carried out only under the supervision of the attending physician, for any side effects or worsening health status, the drug is canceled.

Release form. Injection.

Pharmacotherapeutic group. Means for systemic use in obstructive respiratory diseases. PBX code R03D A04.

Pharmacodynamics Eufillin is an antispasmodic derivative of purine. Blocks adenosine receptors and inhibits phosphodiesterase. It causes a pronounced bronchodilator effect, due to the direct effect on the muscles of the bronchi.

It stabilizes the mast cell membrane, inhibits the release of mediators of allergic reactions, increases mucociliary clearance, stimulates the reduction of the diaphragm, and improves the function of the respiratory and intercostal muscles.

Normalizing respiratory function, it helps to saturate the blood with oxygen and reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide, and stimulates the respiratory centers. Enhances ventilation in hypokalemia. It affects the activity of the heart, increases the strength and heart rate, increases coronary blood flow and myocardial oxygen demand.

It inhibits platelet aggregation (inhibits platelet and prostaglandin E2 α activation factor), increases erythrocyte resistance to deformation (improves blood rheological properties), reduces thrombosis and normalizes microcirculation.

Pharmacokinetics The bioavailability of the drug set 80-100%. Communication with plasma proteins – about 60%. Penetrates through the placental barrier, is found in breast milk. It is metabolized in the liver (90%) with the participation of several cytochrome P 450 enzymes (the most important CYP 1A2).

The main metabolites of the drug are: 1,3-dimethyl uric acid and 3-methylxanthine. Metabolites are excreted by the kidneys. About 7-13% of the administered dose is excreted unchanged (in children – 50%). In newborns, a significant part is excreted in the form of caffeine (due to the immaturity of the pathways of its further metabolism).

The half-life (T1/2) in patients that Nepal is 6-12 hours, in smokers, is significantly shorter – 4-5 hours. In patients with liver cirrhosis, renal failure and in patients with alcoholism, T 1/2 is extended.

Bronchial obstructive: chronic obstructive bronchitis in the acute stage, bronchial asthma (the drug of choice in patients with asthma, physical stress and as an additional treatment for other forms of asthma), asthmatic status (additional therapy), pulmonary emphysema, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease in the acute stage, apnea of infants.

Dosage and administration. The drug is administered intravenously slowly. The dose is selected individually, given the possibility of different excretion rates in different patients.

For adults, the drug is prescribed at 10 mg/kg of body weight, on average, from 600-800 mg per day in 1-3 injections. For patients with low body weight, the dose of the drug is reduced to 400-500 mg/day, with no more than 200-250 mg in the first administration.

For children 6-17 years of age, the drug is prescribed at a dose of 13 mg/kg of body weight, for children under 6 years of age – 16 mg/kg of body weight per day in 1-3 administration.

The drug is administered under the control of blood pressure, heart rate, respiratory rate and the general condition of the patient. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the course of the disease, sensitivity to the drug and can range from several days to two weeks.

On the part of the cardiovascular system: palpitations, arrhythmia, tachycardia, extrasystole, lowering blood pressure, heart failure, frequent attacks of angina pectoris, collapse (with rapid intravenous injection).

From the urinary system: increased urine output.

In pregnant women: the fetus is manifested by tachycardia (when used in the last trimester).

Allergic reactions: skin rash, itching of the skin.

!  Enlarged heart main signs, methods of diagnosis and treatment

Local reactions: at the injection site (induration, hyperemia, soreness).

Side effects decrease with a decrease in the dose of the drug.

Contraindications Hypersensitivity to the components of the drug (including other xanthine derivatives: caffeine, pentoxifylline, theobromine). Pulmonary edema.

Severe arterial hyper and hypotension, common vascular atherosclerosis, hemorrhagic stroke, retinal hemorrhage, decompensated chronic heart failure, tachyarrhythmia. Increased convulsive readiness, epilepsy. Severe hepatic and/or renal failure.

Overdose. Symptoms: anorexia, nausea, vomiting, headache, dizziness, agitation, irritability. Sometimes the first manifestations may be convulsions, ventricular arrhythmia. In severe poisoning, especially in children, epileptoid seizures can develop without the occurrence of any precursors.

Indications for use

What the drug helps from:

  • Asthmatic status;
  • Apnea;

  • Edema with a renal cause;

Some women prefer using Eufillin to fight cellulite, adding it to their moisturizing or anti-cellulite cream.

But while there are no reliable sources of research on the effect of the drug on the elimination of cellulite, therefore, it is impossible to talk about effectiveness. As such, this method of application will not bring harm if there is no allergy to the substance.

Eufillin tablets are drunk after meals. 1-3 times a day for 1 tablet of 0,15 g, for children – 4 times. The frequency of administration, the duration, how much to drink the drug in days is determined only by a doctor.

If Eufillin is prescribed in ampoules, the solution is administered 1-3 times/day intravenously, with the calculation of 10 mg/1 kg of body weight.

How to dilute the drug in ampoules?

The frequency of administration and dose is determined by the attending physician. Usually, a small concentration of a substance is used in the first injections, diluting it before use in saline under pressure control, because Eufillin is able to change it. For adults, a 2,4% solution of 15 ml is diluted in 100 ml of 0,9% sodium chloride.

Independently breed Eufillin without determining the dosage and concentration of a specialist is prohibited. Especially when it comes to children.

Enter slowly. For children under 18 years of age or infants, the ratio of the solution is less and is regulated by a pediatrician.

Inside, after eating – 0,1-0,2 g 2-3 times a day; children – 7-10 mg/kg per day in 4 divided doses. The duration of treatment is up to several months.

In/in (slowly over 4-6 minutes), adults – 5-10 ml of a 2,4% solution (previously diluted in 10-20 ml of a 20% or 40% glucose solution); in/drip – 10–20 ml in 500 ml of 5% glucose solution for 2–2,5 hours. Inside, after meals, 0,1–0,15 g 2-3 times a day. In microclysters: 0,3–0,5 g is dissolved in 20–25 ml of warm water. The highest doses for adults – in/in: single – 0,25 g, daily – 0,5 g; inside, in/m, rectally: single – 0,5 g, daily – 1,5 g.

The dosage of the drug and the duration of the course of treatment is determined based on the diagnosed disease, age, weight of the patient and other factors:

  • If a person is in a state where emergency care is needed, then the solution is administered intravenously for 30 minutes at a dosage of 5 mg per kilogram of weight.
  • For droppers, the drug is brought to the required concentration with an aqueous NaCl solution and saline.
  • For the usual supportive treatment, injections are given intravenously at a dosage of 0 mg per kilogram of body weight.
  • When taking theophylline before treatment with this medication, the dosage must be reduced by half.
  • The maximum daily dose varies from 0 to 4 ml per kg of patient weight.
  • When treating young children, a consultation with a doctor is mandatory. Newborns and children under the age of 3 months can be administered no more than 60 mg of the active substance per day. In children older than 3 months, the dosage varies from 60 to 500 mg per day.
  • For the treatment of COPD in children, the initial dose should not exceed 6 mg per kg of body weight.
  • The course of treatment depends on the indicators of the patient, the diagnosis and the effectiveness of therapy. It can last several months.

To stop the attack, make intravenous diazepam at a dose of 0,1-0,3 mg/kg (but not more than 10 mg). With severe nausea and vomiting, make intravenous administration of metoclopramide or ondansetron.

If necessary, hemoperfusion, hemodialysis is less effective.

Features of the application. Use during pregnancy and lactation is possible only for health reasons. With extreme caution, the drug should be used to treat patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Before administration, the solution must be heated to body temperature.

The effects of the drug can be significantly enhanced while consuming foods high in caffeine or theobromine (coffee, tea, chocolate, etc.).

Interaction with other drugs. Do not use with other xanthine derivatives. Enhances the action of sympathomimetics and diuretics (by increasing glomerular filtration), reduces the effectiveness of lithium preparations and α-blockers.

In combination with phenobarbital, phenytoin, rifampicin, isoniazid, carbamazepine, sulfinpyrazone, aminoglutethimidomy and morazizin, a decrease in the effectiveness of aminophylline is observed, which may require an increase in its dose.

Storage conditions. Keep out of reach of children, in the original packaging, at a temperature not exceeding 25 ° C.

Eufillin relaxes the smooth muscles of the bronchi and eliminates spasms, thus exerting an expanding effect on them. In addition, it improves the functioning of the cilia of the epithelium of the respiratory tract, improves the contraction of many muscles, including intercostal and diaphragmatic.

The medication is able to stimulate the respiratory center located in the medulla oblongata and improve pulmonary ventilation, helping to saturate the blood with oxygen and reduce the amount of carbon dioxide in it. The mechanism of action of Eufillin on the human body is the inhibition of one of the enzymes – phosphodiesterase.

This helps to reduce the intake of calcium ions into the cells, which are responsible for muscle contraction, and relax the muscles of the bronchi. Also, the medicine reduces the tone of blood vessels, mainly vessels located in the skin, kidneys and brain. This helps to relax the venous walls in the pulmonary circulation, reducing the pressure in it.

Also, the drug improves the rheological properties of the blood, slowing down platelet aggregation, which makes red blood cells more resistant to damage.

Taking the drug can lead to tocolytic effects on the uterus, as well as increase the acidity of the gastric juice.

Indications for use of the medicine in tablets:

Eufillin solution is used as a bronchodilator, which is used for pathologies and diseases of the respiratory tract. As the main active substance, aminophylline is used, which is contained in different doses, depending on the form of release of the drug.

The solution for injection has a different amount of active substance, depending on the method of administration of the drug. If Eufillin is administered intramuscularly, then 240 mg of the active substance is necessary, for intravenous administration, a dosage of two times less is required.

This is due to the fact that the drug has a different effect on the human body, depending on the route of administration.

The drug has a lot of therapeutic effects on the human body, including relieving spasm from smooth muscles. With a sharp contraction of smooth muscles, a person experiences pain, the medicine helps to alleviate this condition.

A solution of Eufillin has the following effects on the human body:

  • relief of bronchospasm;
  • relaxation of the muscles of the airways;
  • elimination of attacks and consequences of apnea;
  • normalizes heart contraction;
  • improves myocardial function;
  • normalizes pressure;
  • enhances the blood flow of internal organs;
  • reduces the risk of allergic reactions;
  • prevents the development of thrombosis;
  • increases acidity in the stomach;
  • prevents the threat of abortion.

The release form of the drug speaks not only about the method of its use, but also about the indications. Tablets and solutions are used for various purposes.

  • chronic obstructive bronchitis;
  • bronchial asthma (prophylaxis of bronchospasm, a drug of choice for asthma of physical stress, an additional remedy for other forms of asthma);

Amufillin ampoule tablets, injections: instructions, price and reviews

Dosage form

The drug is available in the form of tablets and a solution for intravenous administration. Both dosage forms are used under the same conditions, however, the composition is slightly different.

Description and composition

The main active ingredient in Eufillin tablets is aminophylline in a dosage of 150 mg. Chemically, this substance is a salt of theophylline. The addition of an amino group made it possible to use the drug in oral form, increasing its solubility and absorption level.

In the ampoule solution, the main active ingredient is theophylline itself, which is a xanthine derivative. 1 ml of the solution contains 20 mg of theophylline. The mechanism of action is based on the blocking of adenosine receptors, a decrease in the concentration of intracellular calcium and an increase in cAMP. This leads to the following clinical effects:

  1. Bronchodilator.
  2. Antispasmodic.
  3. Vasodilator.

Thanks to them, Eufillin found its application in medicine, namely in pulmonology. Having an effect on the smooth muscles of the bronchi, it causes their relaxation, which is especially pronounced with the initial constriction.

In addition to the bronchodilator effect, theophylline’s ability to increase mucociliary clearance, inhibit the release of allergy and inflammation mediators, and also stabilize mast cell membranes is important.

In addition, Theophylline has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system, skeletal muscle and myocardium, and also has a weak and short-term diuretic effect. By stimulating the release of adrenaline, Theophylline has an indirect effect on adenine receptors in some tissues.

Eufillin stimulates the respiratory center, enhances the work of the left ventricle of the heart, increases the stroke volume of the blood and its saturation with oxygen, reduces the concentration of carbon dioxide. After taking the drug, blood flow in the peripheral tissues increases, and cerebral circulation can slightly decrease. Due to increased renal circulation, a diuretic effect is achieved.

Of the less important clinical effects that still need to be taken into account, are:

  1. Decreased thrombosis.
  2. Improving the rheological properties of blood.
  3. Tocolitic action.
  4. Increase the acidity of gastric juice.
  5. Epileptogenic effect (manifested in high doses).
  6. Expansion of extrahepatic biliary tract.

In smokers, the pharmacodynamics of Eufillin changes and the rate of its excretion increases.

Means for systemic use in obstructive respiratory diseases. Xanthine derivative.

Reviews

Description and composition

Nikolai, 38 years old: Three years ago he was treated for an acute attack of osteochondrosis of the cervical spine. In addition to other drugs, there was intramuscularly aminophylline. Thanks to injections of aminophylline, I felt well already at the beginning of the second week of treatment. I did not feel any side effects from the drug, only in the morning I was dizzy a little.

Vasily, 29 years old: A neurologist prescribed me an intravenous course of aminophylline. Side effects are strong: a sharp rush of blood to the head, the sensation of many needles on the lips and tongue, numb hands, shortness of breath. It is impossible to raise the head – severe dizziness. But with each new injection of aminophylline, the drug was transferred easier and easier.
