To accomplish this task, the amount of the enzyme must range from 16 to 64 units. If we compare the latter with the activity after eating and the flow of the digestive tract, then the amount of diastase is significantly reduced.
When should you get tested?
In this case, the answer can be unambiguous, since urine analysis is given exclusively on an empty stomach. Fried, spicy foods and especially sweet tea should be excluded from the late evening diet.
How much diastase is acceptable?
For a healthy person, the amount of diastase should not exceed 65 units per liter of analyzed fluid. But even the lower figure should not decrease by more than 16 units.
It should be noted that if the concentration of the enzyme in the urine is found within 8000 units, the likelihood of acute pancreatitis should definitely be excluded.

Analysis in laboratory conditions is performed taking into account the use of certain reagents, namely:
- 0,85% saline.
- Starch solution.
- Phosphate buffer solution.
First of all, the specialist proceeds to warm up the physiological solution in the amount of 70 ml. The latter must be brought to a boil. In the second, additional test tube, pour 3 ml of cold saline solution, followed by mixing with starch in a ratio of three to one. The contents of this test tube are thoroughly mixed with a complete glass rod.
As a next step, the content of the additional tube is mixed with boiling saline. Actions can be duplicated at the discretion of the laboratory assistant, with decontamination of the previous stage with saline.
At the final stage, the resulting product must be allowed to cool, and then poured into a separate 100 ml glass flask, filling it to the first mark. After that, they start working with starch. It is diluted with saline until 90 ml of liquid is obtained.
10 ml of toluene and a similar amount of buffer solution are added to them. The presence of a phosphorus buffer in the total amount of the analyzed agent allows to extend its shelf life up to 90 days. If the analysis is carried out exclusively instantly, then it can be excluded.
To complete the urine analysis for diastasis, you will also need to use an iodine solution.

Performed by a specialist as follows:
- A test tube with no diastatic effect is determined.
- Return to the previous tube out of the total 15.
- Mixing the contents with an iodine solution in a ratio of 1 to 16.
